Progressive Labor Party on Race & Racism

OUR FIGHT

Progressive Labor Party (PLP) fights to destroy capitalism and the dictatorship of the capitalist class. We organize workers, soldiers and youth into a revolutionary movement for communism.

Only the dictatorship of the working class — communism — can provide a lasting solution to the disaster that is today’s world for billions of people. This cannot be done through electoral politics, but requires a revolutionary movement and a mass Red Army led by PLP.

Worldwide capitalism, in its relentless drive for profit, inevitably leads to war, fascism, poverty, disease, starvation and environmental destruction. The capitalist class, through its state power — governments, armies, police, schools and culture —  maintains a dictatorship over the world’s workers. The capitalist dictatorship supports, and is supported by, the anti-working-class ideologies of racism, sexism, nationalism, individualism and religion.

While the bosses and their mouthpieces claim “communism is dead,” capitalism is the real failure for billions worldwide. Capitalism returned to Russia and China because socialism retained many aspects of the profit system, like wages and privileges. Russia and China did not establish communism.

Communism means working collectively to build a worker-run society. We will abolish work for wages, money and profits. Everyone will share in society’s benefits and burdens.

Communism means abolishing racism and the concept of “race.” Capitalism uses racism to super-exploit black, Latino, Asian and indigenous workers, and to divide the entire working class.

Communism means abolishing the special oppression of women — sexism — and divisive gender roles created by the class society.

Communism means abolishing nations and nationalism. One international working class, one world, one Party.

Communism means that the minds of millions of workers must become free from religion’s false promises, unscientific thinking and poisonous ideology. Communism will triumph when the masses of workers can use the science of dialectical materialism to understand, analyze and change the world to meet their needs and aspirations.

Communism means the Party leads every aspect of society. For this to work, millions of workers — eventually everyone — must become communist organizers. Join Us!

The rulers’ democracy crumbles, fascism ahead

In Kenosha, Wisconsin, a 17-year-old Nazi killed two antiracists protesting the kkkcops’ attempted murder of Jacob Blake. In Lacey, Washington, an anti-fascist was assassinated by a federal government death squad after being targeted for the killing of a racist linked to Patriot Prayer, a group of armed white nationalists. With an upsurge of mass antiracist struggle since the May 25 lynching of George Floyd in Minneapolis, mounting political violence reflects a capitalist system that is falling apart before our eyes.

If we don’t get it, shut it down! Families unite to build antiracist movement

Los Angeles, CA – While the bosses just finished parading Joe Biden and Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention, hoping to win workers back to capitalism, women from nine different families testified to the brutality that this system perpetrates on workers daily. Initially LA City Council member Curren Price, a leading Black politician of the Democratic party, promised to have a Zoom forum where people could speak to the trauma the “Shootin’ Newton” police station has caused them over the years. But liberal misleader Price reneged, as all politicians are only interested in protecting the capitalist system.
So the workers took over. A family member proclaimed, “If he doesn’t want to help us, we will make our own community forum!” This was a call to action! For nine months, members of Progressive Labor Party (PLP) have deepened our ties with three families who themselves have numerous ties to other families in the fight against racist police brutality. After spending months organizing with communists, the families are skeptical of the promises politicians make. It has also become clearer to many that communist revolution is the long-term solution to ending racist police murders. Today we organize caravans and forums. In the future the working class will run the world.

John Brown, Harriet Tubman: models for multiracial fightback

This coming October 17 will mark the 161st anniversary of the raid on Harpers Ferry. It was a revolutionary revolt showing the need for militant, antiracist, multiracial, revolutionary struggle! The fight against racist terror continues with the rebellions sparked by police murders this summer. As workers recognize the power of unity, the cops crack down harder on protests.
The southern enslaving class was terrified by the Harpers Ferry raiders’ militant, multiracial unity, a real-life rebuke of their racist stereotyping. One of the raiders’ five Black freedom fighters, Osborne Anderson, described the atmosphere before-hand:
"I have been permitted to realize to its furthest, fullest extent, the moral, mental, physical, social harmony of an Anti-Slavery family, carrying out to the letter the principle of the Anti-slavery cause. In John Brown’s house, and in John Brown’s presence, men from widely different parts of the continent met and united into one company, wherein no hateful prejudice dared intrude its ugly self — no ghost of a distinction found space to enter."

Kenosha antiracists receive communist solidarity

KENOSHA–The brutal shooting of Black worker Jacob Blake, on camera, by kkkop Rusten Sheskey last month once again cast a spotlight on capitalism’s racist and sexist hatred for working-class lives. Already pummeled by a deadly pandemic, widespread unemployment, and mounting evictions, it can seem as though there is no limit to the violence that the capitalist bosses can rain upon our class.

Students & workers organize to teach antiracism

LOS ANGELES, September 8 –When high school students organize and lead a Social Justice Day on day three of a school year that is steeped in instability for our class, we can lay claim to the potential of a bright future ahead of us. Sixteen students and 10  staff members (organized by a teacher member of PLP) met and planned through the summer to pull together the day’s activities. When the school’s administration tried to push it back again claiming there was not enough time to “do it right”, students and staff said NO! We demanded that the nonsense they were calling Fall Bridge be condensed so that instead our fight for an antiracist school, community, and world could take center stage.

Letters of September 23

Capitalism killed my patient
One of the major ways the capitalist bosses keep their grip on power over the working class is by convincing us that we, as workers, should assume blame for the failures of their system. This fact was driven home for me recently during a shift in the hospital where I work.
One of the patients that was assigned to me had experienced a traumatic injury before being admitted to the hospital, and the night before I came on her condition had gravely deteriorated. By the time I arrived to work, she had already spent over seven hours in a regular unit when she should have been in an intensive care unit. I was unable to give her the attention that she needed, and within two hours of starting my shift, she had passed.

Fight police murder, call for multiracial unity

BOSTON, MA, September 5—The Progressive Labor Party (PLP) and friends rallied outside of Brigham and Women's Hospital to protest the police murder of 41-year-old Juston Root, a white working-class man with mental illness. His story shows that the same racist police force that terrorizes  Black and Latin workers is the same police force that is unleashed on the entire working class. PLP calls for multiracial unity against capitalism and its kkkop thugs.

Capitalism generates racist wage gap

Every so often, some tiny grains of truth that appear in the bosses’ liberal media actually contradict the distortions, unwarranted assumptions and outright lies we usually read there. Such is the case with two recent articles that, taken together, validate Progressive Labor Party’s line that: 1) racism is to capitalism as garbage is to rats; and 2) it is in the economic interest of all workers, including white workers, to fight racism.

For Jacob Blake, Rebel against racism

KENOSHA, WISCONSIN, August 26—When police fired seven shots into Jacob Blake in the back while his three children watched, workers and youth in Kenosha erupted in rebellion. As they should.
U.S. capitalism’s defenders, the police, have once again proven themselves to be a terrorist force that must be abolished. To do so, the rebels need communist politics and revolution.
Some antiracists, including Progressive Labor Party, have learned from the protests that rumbled in every U.S. city following the recent police murders of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta and Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky. One such lesson is that nothing scares the rulers more than multiracial unity and Black leadership from the working class. As CHALLENGE goes to press, PLP is bringing solidarity to the bold Kenosha fighters (see next issue).

Capitalist bosses plague Colombia

As Colombia’s “Democratic Center” ruling party and its liberal opposition intensify their capitalist dogfight to control the paltry $250 million (U.S.) from the World Bank to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic, millions of workers and their families have been left infected, jobless, and hungry. The masses lack access to the most basic medical services to detect and treat the coronavirus.  Nor are they getting the economic aid supposedly set aside for sickened workers. Instead, the money is stolen by organized crime organizations that terrorize the country with deadly violence against workers.
