Progressive Labor Party on Race & Racism

OUR FIGHT

Progressive Labor Party (PLP) fights to destroy capitalism and the dictatorship of the capitalist class. We organize workers, soldiers and youth into a revolutionary movement for communism.

Only the dictatorship of the working class — communism — can provide a lasting solution to the disaster that is today’s world for billions of people. This cannot be done through electoral politics, but requires a revolutionary movement and a mass Red Army led by PLP.

Worldwide capitalism, in its relentless drive for profit, inevitably leads to war, fascism, poverty, disease, starvation and environmental destruction. The capitalist class, through its state power — governments, armies, police, schools and culture —  maintains a dictatorship over the world’s workers. The capitalist dictatorship supports, and is supported by, the anti-working-class ideologies of racism, sexism, nationalism, individualism and religion.

While the bosses and their mouthpieces claim “communism is dead,” capitalism is the real failure for billions worldwide. Capitalism returned to Russia and China because socialism retained many aspects of the profit system, like wages and privileges. Russia and China did not establish communism.

Communism means working collectively to build a worker-run society. We will abolish work for wages, money and profits. Everyone will share in society’s benefits and burdens.

Communism means abolishing racism and the concept of “race.” Capitalism uses racism to super-exploit black, Latino, Asian and indigenous workers, and to divide the entire working class.

Communism means abolishing the special oppression of women — sexism — and divisive gender roles created by the class society.

Communism means abolishing nations and nationalism. One international working class, one world, one Party.

Communism means that the minds of millions of workers must become free from religion’s false promises, unscientific thinking and poisonous ideology. Communism will triumph when the masses of workers can use the science of dialectical materialism to understand, analyze and change the world to meet their needs and aspirations.

Communism means the Party leads every aspect of society. For this to work, millions of workers — eventually everyone — must become communist organizers. Join Us!

Stranger Things: Imperial nostalgia & red scare

The premise of the Netflix original series Stranger Things began simply enough: a boy goes missing near a top-secret government laboratory. An adventure ensues as the teenage protaganists go on the hunt for answers, witnessing strange things along the way: supernatural forces, a top secret government experiment, and a girl with telekinetic powers.

Ecuador: Workers rebel vs. capitalist crisis

Quito, Ecuador, October 9–Workers’ anger and frustration exploded in Ecuador, paralyzing the country from Quito, the capital city, to the Pacific coast, storming and occupying the parliment  building and sending President Lenin Moreno into hiding. These protests come after Moreno unveiled plans to impose austerity measures that threaten to plunge workers further into the abyss of poverty and capitalist exploitation. These massive protests across Ecuador demonstrate what the bosses fear most: workers, when organized and angry, have the power to bring the capitalist system to a screeching halt. However, absent communist politics and leadership, which Progressive Labor Party (PLP) strives to bring to these and all workers’ struggles around the world, workers will be trapped in a revolving door of dead-end reforms that bring with them more economic crises and swindles from liberal politicians.

Saudi and Iranian rivalry: U.S empire in peril

On September 14, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned Abqaiq and Khurais oil processing plants were attacked by drone and missile strikes of unconfirmed origin, disrupting five percent of global oil production and pushing rival imperialists closer to World War III. The latest conflict in the Middle East demonstrates the deteriorating influence of a fractured U.S. ruling class. It also reminds us how the fight over resources among the world’s competing capitalists leads to mass murder and displacement of workers.

Class struggle in full gear Auto strike halts GM, needs to smash profit system

BOLINGBROOK, IL, September 21—“You’re not just fighting for you, you’re fighting for us! For everybody!”
This statement of solidarity was made by a Chrysler autoworker who had traveled hours to support a picket of General Motors (GM) workers outside a company parts distribution plant in Bolingbrook, Illinois. More working-class support is essential as the autoworkers boldly continue their strike against the racist and sexist capitalist bosses, which began on September 15 and includes up to 50,000 workers.

Rising fascism: Liberal bosses use climate reform to squash domestic rival

On September 20, as millions around the world marched to protest climate change, the big oil and auto capitalists behind the movement were calling for stricter regulations—on themselves. A hallmark of fascism is the ruling class disciplining itself and squashing enemies within its own ranks. The call for self-regulation in oil and auto is a not-so-early warning sign. The big liberal U.S. imperialist bosses are accelerating toward fascism as they prepare for war and sharper attacks on the international working class.

Strikers must reject GM & UAW bosses

“We want equality!” That’s how one worker described the strike of 50,000 GM workers, women and men, black, Latin, Asian, and white workers in the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. A big red salute to GM strikers. Their courage serves as an inspiration for workers everywhere. At least 12 strikers were arrested in Spring Hills, TN for attempting to stop car haulers from moving finished cars out of the company lot. From Michigan toTexas strikers confronted the police, whose historical role has been to protect property and attack organized labor.

PLP and fighters call out racist liberal bosses

BALTIMORE, September 10—As the weekly West Wednesday rallies continue to demand accountability for the murder of Tyrone West by twelve to fifteen Baltimore Police and a Morgan University officer, President Donald Trump spent most of a week tweeting that the city of Baltimore is a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” where “no human being would want to live.” This disgusting racism means, in his eyes, that the people of this majority-Black city are sub-human.

Mexico: Communist educators sow seeds of revolution

OAXACA, MEXICO–Last weekend, members and friends of the Progressive Labor Party (PLP) participated in a forum with a huge group of teachers of Section 22 from Oaxaca of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE, its initials in Spanish) about PLP’s dialectical materialist analysis concerning education, imperialism and the working class alternative.

Strike on against fascists; goal: communism

SEATTLE, WA—Some vermin from the racist, nationalist group, the Proud Boys, confronted and attacked some anti-racist fans before a Major League Soccer (MLS) match in Seattle. The racists were responding to other anti-racist fans flying an anti-fascist, anti-Nazi flag at a previous game. Similar taunting and assaults have been taking place at soccer matches and clubs in New York (HuffPost, 3/9).
While ignoring the Proud Boys and their racist violence, the MLS bosses have instead put a league-wide ban against all political banners and signs at matches. Through this decision, they are effectively equating anti-racist politics with fascist hate speech, as both “extremist ideologies.” They are in fact giving a nod of approval to racism and fascism.

Protest teaches about limits and confidence in workers

INDIANA, September 25—Putting our line of revolutionary communism on the line with fellow workers, no matter how big or small the fight, is the only way Progressive Labor Party can build for communism in this dark period of capitalism. PLP along with the family of workers murdered by kkkops and mass organization members, held a daylong rally for justice here. What started off as a potentially isolating action, turned into a school for communist leadership.
