Progressive Labor Party on Race & Racism

OUR FIGHT

Progressive Labor Party (PLP) fights to destroy capitalism and the dictatorship of the capitalist class. We organize workers, soldiers and youth into a revolutionary movement for communism.

Only the dictatorship of the working class — communism — can provide a lasting solution to the disaster that is today’s world for billions of people. This cannot be done through electoral politics, but requires a revolutionary movement and a mass Red Army led by PLP.

Worldwide capitalism, in its relentless drive for profit, inevitably leads to war, fascism, poverty, disease, starvation and environmental destruction. The capitalist class, through its state power — governments, armies, police, schools and culture —  maintains a dictatorship over the world’s workers. The capitalist dictatorship supports, and is supported by, the anti-working-class ideologies of racism, sexism, nationalism, individualism and religion.

While the bosses and their mouthpieces claim “communism is dead,” capitalism is the real failure for billions worldwide. Capitalism returned to Russia and China because socialism retained many aspects of the profit system, like wages and privileges. Russia and China did not establish communism.

Communism means working collectively to build a worker-run society. We will abolish work for wages, money and profits. Everyone will share in society’s benefits and burdens.

Communism means abolishing racism and the concept of “race.” Capitalism uses racism to super-exploit black, Latino, Asian and indigenous workers, and to divide the entire working class.

Communism means abolishing the special oppression of women — sexism — and divisive gender roles created by the class society.

Communism means abolishing nations and nationalism. One international working class, one world, one Party.

Communism means that the minds of millions of workers must become free from religion’s false promises, unscientific thinking and poisonous ideology. Communism will triumph when the masses of workers can use the science of dialectical materialism to understand, analyze and change the world to meet their needs and aspirations.

Communism means the Party leads every aspect of society. For this to work, millions of workers — eventually everyone — must become communist organizers. Join Us!

SOLIDARITY FROM WORKERS IN MEXICO

OAXACA, MX, June 8—Militant revolutionary greetings from the Progressive Labor Party (PLP) collective in Oaxaca. We offer our solidarity and support during your exemplary fight against the racist and fascist police forces who killed George Floyd. You are an example to the world. This racism is engendered by the capitalist system and carried out by the ruling class in the United States through its fascist police, who commit crimes against the working class on the streets, in the factories, stores, schools and especially against Black and Latin workers.

Confront racist cops with communist discipline

BROOKLYN, May 31—“We were raised with the history of Haiti...that nonviolence gets you killed and people in America haven’t understood that yet. Everyone needs to learn about Haiti but the racist education system never teaches about it. People need to understand that this enemy won’t stop and it’s either we agree to slavery or they keep murdering us. Either we cut off their heads and burn down their houses or they murder us. That’s what this war is.”
Indeed, it will take a disciplined, organized, violent revolution to get rid of this racist, capitalist system and the killer kkkops that it breeds.

Flatbush: communist speeches set tone for rally

Brooklyn, May 31—As outrage over George Floyd’s cold-blooded killing spilled out onto the streets, members of Progressive Labor Party (PLP) converged on a huge protest in Flatbush, Brooklyn. It was to begin where our May Day march has ended for several years. At this very spot our sound truck has been a platform for sisters and mothers of Black workers and youth killed by police in Brooklyn and Baltimore.
These women have helped to lead the working class in calls to shut this racist system down with communist revolution! They have taught PL’ers precious lessons about what it means to be strong fighters, no matter what. For the families of Shantel Davis, Kyam Livingston, Kimani Gray and Tyrone West justice means a world where nobody else has to face the loss that they have suffered. They have seen this justice denied by mayors and prosecutors both Black and white, by police chiefs and city councils composed of women and men, Republican and Democrat.

Mexico: COVID-19 and the deadly virus of capitalism

In early June, the official numbers of those infected with Covid-19 had  exceeded 110,000 and 11,000 deaths had  been registered in Mexico. Other sources such as Mexicanos Primero (MP), the New York Times, SkyNews of the United Kingdom or El País of Spain, have uncovered significant underreporting of the number of patients, and they estimate that the deaths are much higher than the official numbers. MP is the bosses’ group that, allied with Televisa, promoted the educational reform that attacked the labor rights of thousands of teachers in the country. All their numbers are incorrect because all bosses, national or imperialist, treat workers as disposable.

Covid-19 can’t stop May Day or revolution

NEWARK, NJ, May 4—Our club celebrated May Day virtually this year. Emboldened by Covid-19’s exposure of capitalism’s total failure for millions of workers — and laying bare the racism of capitalism worldwide— we invited more than 200 people to “march with us” on May Day. An inspiring video made for the event featured May Day marches from around the world, as well as past PLP May Day marches putting the intergenerational and multiracial membership of our Party on display.

Gov't reopening exposes Big Fascists in disarray

The Big Fascists, the international finance capital wing of the U.S. ruling class, is in disarray—and the working class is paying the price. With more than 350,000 workers killed by the pandemic, including more than 100,000 in the U.S. alone, the capitalist bosses are pushing forward with a chaotic “reopening” of the economy that may kill millions more. Meanwhile, capitalism has plunged into a severe international economic crisis that rivals the Great Depression of the 1930s. As imperialist rulers fight for their threatened profits on the road to fascism and World War III, hundreds of millions of workers worldwide are faced with joblessness, hunger, and a siege of preventable illness. Racist inequality has murdered untold numbers of Black and Latin workers, from Detroit to Tanzania to Ecuador.

Flores fightback: cops serve the ruling class

Los Angeles, May 23—“DA Lacey, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide”
“How do you spell racist? LAPD”
“How do you spell murderer? LAPD”
Over two consecutive days, these and other chants rang out all over a working-class neighborhood in South LA, and an upscale neighborhood of Granada Hills, where Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie (“Lackey”) Lacey lives. It was a fighting commemoration of the life and untimely death of Alex Flores, a young Latin worker who was mowed down by racist killers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in South LA six months ago.

Communist caravan against kkkiller cops

BROOKLYN, NY May 12—In response to the murder of 25-year-old Black worker Ahmaud Arbery (25) in Georgia, 20 PL’ers and antiracists organized a caravan for communism. Fists rose in solidarity along a 2.2 mile route that revisited time-honored sites of protest and rebellion against the police murders of Kyam Livingston (37), Shantel Davis (23), and Kimani Gray (16). While maintaining working-class discipline, Progressive Labor Party managed to distribute 100 CHALLENGEs and bring the message of antiracism to this neighborhood terrorized by racist police.
